Harmony's Story

Harmony was originally located at Colony Square by the MIDTOWN letters, but due to the ongoing renovations, we needed to find a new home for her to keep her safe. There are plans to bring a piano back to Colony Square once the renovations have been completed.

The Egg Harbor Cafe, having been quite thrilled with having our piano “Tommy” in East Cobb, is now hosting Harmony at their Sandy Springs Location.

Below is information from the press release when we unveiled Harmony in midtown…

+++++++++++++

We're so excited to have Harmony in Colony Square.  Colony Square was the first mixed-use development in the Southeast, and in celebration of it's 50th anniversary, big changes are taking place, a modernization that will continue until its official rebirth in July 2018, and Harmony is helping to launch their vision.

“We are thrilled to bring the art of music to our community,” said Carla Toro, director of marketing at Colony Square. “The lovely piano ‘Harmony’ comes as part of a larger vision to reimagine Colony Square to be an arts-infused place to gather with community. We look forward to hosting continued cultural activations and events at Colony Square, especially around the holidays.”

Max Lebven was commissioned to paint two murals in the Colony Square plaza, near the MIDTOWN letters. So when they asked if Max could paint the piano as well, we looked at his work, and knew with full confidence that it would be spectacular, and spectacular it is!

“It was a joy to be a part of this endeavor,” Lebven said. “While bright, brilliant colors are my passion, when I was painting Harmony, there was something more. You'll notice that the back, under the top board and the underside of the fallboard are painted dark blue with clouds. That was inspired by a scene from the movie "Immortal Beloved" where, as a child seeking to escape the wrath of his father, a young Beethoven finds tranquility floating on his back in a nearby pond while Ode to Joy plays.  I've always loved that scene and hoped that the dark blue sky might spark the imagination of some passing would be pianist.”

We expect that Max will have achieved his goal the same day Harmony is unveiled!
